dlphnmod did you never played doom3? maybe its note doom3 but a doom3 engine based game, so it could also be quake4 - maybe also riddick but its doom3 engine. nothing new, no revolution only bullshit.

Hello dlphnmod :) Sorry the forums have been dead :(

Anyway, this is the problem with all FPS games, everyone thinks they all come from the same engine if they look alike... this could be Half-Life 2, UE3, Doom 3, etc. I don't believe it's a Rev picure (because it's not that impressive... it does a few things the GC can't do, but not by much).

Also, the ammount of detail in this hallway is kinda... meh. I could have that up and running in like 3 days on my PC if I wanted to push the Torque engine and use some shaders.

Well based on the fact that everything else this guy says is fake, this must be also.

Also the fact that it is displayed in 480 widescreen is suspicious. I'm guessing since REV will not support HD, Nintendo will not go out of its way to support 16:9 either.

Also I would like to add that if you have read this guy's blog, he makes numerous claims that the REV will be the most powerful console ever.

Don't you think that a console that powerful would look a hell of alot better than this? Especially if its an all-important "halo-killer"

On a side note, I think Halo and Halo 2 were mediocre at best with clunky controls and bland visuals. The audio was excellent though.

That's funny he removed all comments from his blog. I have seen crazy people on the street make more sense than what he posts.

The only problem with power is it takes more time to use it to create realism, than it does to not use it and suggest realism. Power means nothing in the hands of someone unwilling to weild it, and even when used properly, most people don't appreciate it.

I can play RE4 all I want, but after the first glimpse, the level of detail just fades away as I play the game, it's not needed after a certain point. Until we achieve total immersion in gaming (through a visor, helmet, or implant of some kind) all the detail in the world won't help, it's still just on a screen in front of you, and you lose focus on the little details after a while and it's just a game again.

I agree to a certain extent, but from beginning to end in RE4 I was constantly just taking time to observe how gorgeous and detailed everything was.

Tell me in the cave with the lava and fire spewing gold dragon statues you didn't just take one look and say HOLY S___

The visuals and animation are what take this game from being great to being one of the best of all time.

Notice the white chunk under the picture.
He probably cut off the bottom from the original which could have given away the fact that its not for the Rev.

When it comes to game design, a simple thing, like level of detail, can't hold a candle to atmosphere and mood. I think it was the sudden change into the room of laval and dragons is what made you go holy shit, and that's a change in atmosphere, it forced you to look at detail. Not the other way around. And atmosphere in games is something I strongly, strongly, support and try to work on every chance I get.

I do agree but not completely. There are some things that have to be attributed to the graphics engine alone which help create atmosphere such as the heat warping effect, the incredible explosive effects, the facial animations, and most important to note: the ability to display an almost unlimited quantity of high-polygon characters on screen at once.

The game would not have been the same if there were not so many enemies at once.

if you ever played a doom3 engine based game you will always recognize every game that is also doom3 engine based.

there are some typical thinks about the doom3 engine, first there are always small rooms and hardly no big areas - why?

if you ever used the doom3 level editor you will know why.

it cant be a far cry screenshot because the texture of the walls in far cry are not very good compared to doom3.

it could be a halflife 2 engine based game screenshot, but its not probably.

so please, i'am a pc gamer and i know these engines very well trust me its a doom3 engine based game.

Halo was really overated (haven't playe Halo2). You can see an ad for Halo 2 map-expansion thing on IGN saying that Halo/2 is the best multiplayer game ever. Oh please! Counter-Strike is way better and has far more replay value. Microsoft also said Halo is the best videogame series ever made. This is all just bullshit put out by a crappy company. (I don't think Microsoft has ever really updated Windows; Mac convert 03' and lovin it!)
